about Fernando valencia.

I am a Mexican documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist dedicated to telling stories that inspire change and amplify underrepresented voices. My passion for non-fiction storytelling emerges from the intersection of two major interests: social justice and cinematic language.

I have worked in the non-profit sector for 18 years as a communications professional, using visual storytelling to elevate health, education, migration, and rural development issues.

My journey as a documentary filmmaker began with a deep curiosity about the social realities of my home country. Over the years, this passion has taken me across Latin America, expanding into a broader mission—using video and film to shed light on stories of resilience and transformation. I have directed four short films, edited one, and served as a production advisor on an award-winning feature documentary.

I believe in the power of storytelling to drive change and am always looking for new collaborations to bring impactful narratives to life.

Non-profits I have produced stories for:

Smile Train, Inc. (US), The Tacombi Foundation, Inc. (US), Red de Pueblos Transnacionales, Inc. (US), Alianza Americas, Inc. (US), Servicio Jesuita a Refugiados (Ecu), Red Eclecial Panamazónica (Ecu), REVICPAZLAC (Col), Cooperativa Agrícola Nuevo Horizonte (Gua), Amigos Trabajando en los Cruceros (Mex), FM4 Paso Libre (Mex), Sin Fronteras I.A.P (Mex).
